The great cheese debate rages on. Some continue to insist that cheese should be completely eliminated because it is high in saturated fat. The myths and facts seem to weight in favor of cheese in moderation (but you knew that). So when you see cheese at the holiday party it’s probably okay to ENJOY! However, if you’re still not convinced stay tuned to the end for a VEGAN cheese ball recipe.

What was a healthy living blogger doing at a Chopped Conference surrounded by food bloggers you ask? Well my love of healthy living, community and social media plus it’s right here in my hometown of Kansas City. So it seemed like the right place for me and it was!
Chopped Conference featured…
“…an impressive lineup of local and national speakers talking about: blogging, food photography/styling, food writing, incorporating nutrition into your blog, how to work with a virtual assistant, making the most of social media…and more.”
Marly McMillen Beelman was the host and organizer of Chopped Conference. Marly is founder and publisher at Namely Marly where she writes about names, vegan recipes and life!
What comes to mind when you hear the word “raw” food. My first visualization was raw sushi (my son loves and I’m trying to like)!
YourDictionary.com defines raw foodist as: one who eats a diet made up primarily or wholly of uncooked vegetables, fruits, seeds, and nuts.
You don’t need to switch 100% to eating raw foods. Start off slowly adding a few to your diet and begin reaping healthy benefits of more energy and natural healing.
Dr Oz says, “Fundamentally, what you want is a diet that consists of whole foods, or foods that come out of the ground looking the way they look when you eat them. They are found in the outside aisles of the supermarket, and you get the fiber along with the juice. ”
Want to save money while grocery shopping? I’ll share more about that too!
To get started on a healthier you, here’s a list of my favorite raw foods!
I found this surprising story dating back to the 1930’s!
It’s about a dentist who traveled to isolated areas of the world to study dental health of people not influenced by western civilization. What he found was healthy, straight, decay free teeth. Why is this surprising? Because their traditional diet consisted of cholesterol rich foods like butter, whole milk, eggs, shellfish, organ meats and animal fats. In comparison civilized people tend to eat low-fat foods, refined sugar, vegetable oils and processed foods. All foods which can result in nutritional deficiencies.
This study was done by Weston A. Price, DDS who uncovered that people consuming a more traditional diet, rich in essential nutrients have healthier teeth. Further he discovered that fat-soluble vitamins A, D and K are vital for a healthy body and key for mineral absorption.
Eat this: fish, shellfish, eggs, whole milk products, meat, lacto-fermented vegetables, seeds, nuts and grains.
Not that: refined sugar, white flour, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated vegetable oils, homogenized skim or low-fat milk, canned foods, additives, artificial coloring and synthetic vitamins.
